Abstract

The author uses his experience as a musical interpreter as a starting point, and attempts to demonstrate that the explanation of the essence of music, and Mozart's music in particular, is not exhausted by purely musicological analysis. For this purpose the author bases himself on the ideas of von Balthasar as well as the words of Pope Benedict XVI, both deeply fond of Mozart. Their conclusions relate to the idea of a theology of beauty.
